Tom Brady Booed by Fans at Indy 500 During Driver Intros on Video

It has been years since Tom Brady was a regular thorn in the side of the Indianapolis Colts, but their fans aren't quick to forgive and forget.

The NFL legend was on hand Sunday for the Indianapolis 500 to ride alongside Jimmie Johnson and lead the field out onto the track. He received a frosty reception at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when his name was called:

Brady went 12-3 against the Colts for his career and he ended Indianapolis' season in the playoffs on four occasions. New England's 45-7 victory over Indy in the 2014 AFC title game is when Deflategate happened.

If you were to poll Colts fans past and present about their least favorite players, Brady is probably near the top of the list and might occupy the top spot.

The 47-year-old hasn't strayed too far from the spotlight, either, after retiring from the NFL in February 2023. He's now a weekly fixture on Fox's lead broadcast, and he's a minority stakeholder in the Las Vegas Raiders.

That makes it hard for the animosity to fully dissipate.

Brady almost certainly knew his reception Sunday would be mixed at best. He has been at this too long to think otherwise.

But Sunday offered a glimpse into how the rest of his retirement is likely to unfold. No matter how far removed he is from his days with the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his seven Super Bowl titles ensure he'll be serenaded with boos in some portions of the country.
